Troubleshooting USB Device Not Recognized
Introduction:
When a USB device isn’t recognized by your computer, it could be a driver or hardware issue. Here’s how to troubleshoot it.
Steps to Troubleshoot:
-
Try a Different Port: Plug the USB device into another port to rule out a faulty connection.
-
Check the Device on Another Computer: Test the USB device on a different computer to see if the problem is with the device or the original computer.
-
Update USB Drivers: Go to Device Manager, locate your USB drivers, and update them to the latest version.
-
Check Power Settings: Sometimes power management settings can disable USB ports. Go to Power Options and disable “USB selective suspend.”
-
Uninstall and Reinstall USB Controllers: In Device Manager, right-click on USB controllers and uninstall them, then restart your computer to automatically reinstall them.
-
Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the USB cable and port for any visible damage that could be causing the issue.
