Introduction:

Overheating can cause your computer to shut down or slow down. Let’s go through the steps to identify and resolve overheating issues.

Steps to Troubleshoot:

  1. Check Airflow: Ensure that the vents are not blocked and that there’s proper airflow around the computer.

  2. Clean Dust: Dust buildup in fans and vents can block airflow. Use compressed air to clean your computer’s internals.

  3. Monitor Temperatures: Use temperature monitoring software like HWMonitor to check your CPU and GPU temps. If they’re too high, reduce system load or consider improving cooling.

  4. Replace Thermal Paste: Over time, thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink can degrade. Reapply fresh thermal paste if necessary.

  5. Upgrade Cooling System: If your system is consistently overheating, consider upgrading to better fans, adding more, or investing in a liquid cooling system.

  6. Lower Overclocking Settings: Overclocking can cause excessive heat. Lower your overclocking settings if you’ve pushed the limits too far.
